RESOURCES - COVENANT OF THE CHURCH TO THE MEMBERS

The leadership of St. Paul’s Church pledge to develop and support godly ministry that will build up the Kingdom of God under the headship of Jesus Christ. By the grace of God, we the clergy and lay leadership of St. Paul’s, having been chosen for leadership by the people of the church and by the call

of our Lord Jesus Christ, do hereby pledge to the members of this church our commitment to the following:

1. We will guard the faith of this church

  • by preaching only that which is consistent with the Word of God and Apostolic Doctrine
  • by permitting only orthodox teaching in all parts of our Church life
  • by raising up into leadership only men and women with mature Godly lives

         Preach the Word; be prepared in season and out of season; Correct, rebuke and encourage—with  

         great patience and careful instruction. 2 Timothy 4:2

2. We will protect the unity of this church

  • by acting in love toward one another in accordance with the Leadership Covenant
  • by not being part of gossip, but only speaking well of others

         A new command I give you:  Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one

         another. John 13:34

3. We will live godly lives that serve as a model of maturity in Christ

  • by being faithful in prayer
  • by regularly studying God’s Word
  • by being in regular fellowship with one another
  • by giving our tithes and offerings of our Time, Talent and Treasures resources for the mission of the Church

          You are the light of the world. A city on a hill cannot be hidden. Matthew 5:14

4. We will provide opportunities for all members of this church to do the work that  

    God has given us to do.

  • by encouraging members to discover their gifts for ministry
  • by equipping members to develop those gifts
  • by empowering members to use those gifts

          For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you         

          because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.

          Psalm 139:13-14

5. We will provide opportunities for all members of this church to have their

    spiritual needs met

  • by providing for our connection to God through a worship environment where God’s presence is celebrated, God’s purposes is revealed and God’s people are transformed
  • by providing for our connection to one another through opportunities for community groups where in fellowship we can encourage and support one another in our journey in discipleship – living our the Great Commandment and the Great Commission
  • by providing strong prayer ministries and pastoral care ministries

          Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in              

          spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. John 4:23
