LIFE AT SPC

We believe that life is complicated enough with working families who have kids involved in multiple activities on a regular basis and that the church shouldn't take over your life or create additional stress but we do believe that Christians are intended to grow spiritually. We believe in keeping it simple and not cluttering people's lives any further. We believe the Christian life is mostly lived not in the ministry center but in the world where are intended to be salt and light and therefore what we do together needs to prepare you for that life. We focus our spiritual lives on four disciplines:

1.  ATTEND WEEKEND WORSHIP SERVICE REGULARLY

We were made to worship and we need to worship in order to re-center our lives on the God who created it all and who sent His Son to redeem us by His death on the cross so that we can live with Him forever. We believe that worship on earth is practice for eternity and that the veil between God and us is thinnest when we are worshipping Him. It is important for Christians to sing His praises, to pray together, to read the Word and hear its relevance to our lives today, and to gather as a witness to changed lives, lives that are now centered on Him and not ourselves.

2.  JOIN A C3-GROUP

We believe that the Christian life is meant to be lived in relationships with others. In the creation account of Genesis 2, after approving of all His work, God said, "It is not good for man to be alone." God's intention from the beginning was that we were made for relationships. A C3 group is a small group that meets for 8 weeks at a time, four times during the year (Jan-Feb, April-May, July-August, October-November) for the purpose of learning together, praying together and being together.

3.  VOLUNTEER TO SERVE

Service is both in the church and outside the church. Jesus said that he came not to be served but to serve and His disciples were taught to be servants as well (John 13). The parable of the Good Samaritan teaches us that loving our neighbor is an active love, doing for our neighbor what she cannot do for herself. Service in the church involves preparing the worship space, greeting guests and members on Sunday, working with the sound system during worship, putting together worship leaflets, visiting the sick and other ministries. Service outside the church can be with SOS Ministries, working with Habitat for Humanity crews or a wide variety of other opportunities.

4.  LIVE FAITHFULLY WITH YOUR TIME, TALENT AND TREASURE

We believe that we were made for a purpose and that Jesus becoming like us in order to reveal the love of the Father means that our lives here are eternally significant. Our time here is limited and therefore precious. It is important that we be good stewards of our time, that we keep our priorities straight and that we use our time wisely to serve God by being the best child, spouse, parent and neighbor we can be in order that others might come to know Him through our lives. It is important that we recognize that all our gifts and talents come from God and seek to use them, as a real estate appraiser would say, for their highest and best use. We need to know what our gifts and talents are and apply them for the building of God's kingdom. All that we have comes from God and we believe in what Randy Alcorn terms the treasure principle found in Matthew 6.21, "For where your *treasure* is, there your heart will be also." We believe in giving for the work of the kingdom matters both to the world and to us as we become thankful for all that we have in giving to the one who has provided it all.
