Discipleship for Children

As the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him and reflect his glory even more. And so, since God in his mercy has given us this wonderful ministry, we never give up.

2 Corinthians 3:18--4:1

A disciple is anyone who believes in Jesus, accepts Him as their Savior and desires to spend their lives becoming more like Jesus. The children of St. Paul’s learn that discipleship involves actively reading the Bible, learning Bible verses, praying, gathering with other believers for worship, and giving our lives in service to others. The children of SPC learn that Christians are to put "feet under our faith" if we are to be effective witnesses of Christ's love. There are a variety of ministries at SPC where children and families can minister in His Name:  James One Project and Compassion International.

The children of St. Paul’s gather to learn Bible stories and truths each Sunday morning and at various other times throughout the week and year. These Bible stories are taught through interactive lessons in a multi-media format and focus on how to apply Biblical principles to everyday life. Families are encouraged to enter into the discipleship process during the week at home, and Children’s Ministry offers materials to help in this process each week.

Prayer for Children
Prayer is a large component of Children’s Ministry at St. Paul’s. Children learn that prayer is so important in the life of a Christian, and they learn how to pray to their Heavenly Father. Through a format called “Awakening Prayers”, children are guided in praying for their families, their friends, their country, the world, their school and teachers and themselves. They are encouraged to memorize Scripture to help them pray. They are taught to depend upon the Holy Spirit to give them boldness and courage to share Jesus with others. And they are encouraaged to read and memorize Scripture so that they can proclaim Jesus from a Biblical background.

Worship for Children
The children of St. Paul’s learn that worshiping God is a 24/7 occurrence, that true believers and disciples worship God with their lives—in their thoughts, words, deeds, attitudes and choices. They learn that by living their lives as true believers and disciples throughout the week they are truly worshiping God as He intended. The worship time on Sundays is a celebration of collective worship by the family of God.
