PRAYER - INTERCESSORY MINISTRY

Intercessory prayer is the purifying bath into which the individual and the fellowship must enter every day. - Dietrich Bonhoeffer
If we truly love people, we will desire for them far more than it is within our power to give them, and this will lead us to prayer. Intercession is a way of loving others.
Prayer is to intercede for the well-being of others before God. - Augustine
Our mission is to make dependence on God through prayer foundational to our church and to provide a solid prayer base. We have prayer teams that
Intercessory prayer is not the same as prayers for yourself, or for 'enlighten-ment', or for spiritual gifts, or for guidance, or any personal matter, or any glittering generality. Intercession is not just praying for someone else's needs. It is praying with the real hope and real intent that God would step in and act for the good of some specific other person(s) or other entity. It is trusting that God will act, even if it's not in the manner or timing we seek. God wants us to ask, even urgently. It is casting our weakness before God's strength, and (at its best) having a bit of God's passion burn in us.
"I commend intercessory prayer, because it opens man's soul, gives a healthy play to his sympathies, constrains him to feel that he is not everybody, and that this wide world and this great universe were not after all made that he might be its petty lord, that everything might bend to his will, and all creatures crouch at his feet." (Charles Spurgeon)

Monday Morning Prayers
A group of people who pray for the requests received on Sundays on the Prayer Cards. This focused prayer group is committed to confidentiality of all prayer requests.
Prayer Chain
This ministry facilitates prayer requests of an urgent nature in an organized manner via e-mail, so that the prayers of the many will be effective.
Watchmen Prayer Partners
This goal of this ministry is to saturate the church body, ministries and staff in prayer on a regular and consistent basis. A prayer guide is used to focus prayer on specific objectives and needs.
Seeds of Faith
An on-going and annual commitment by members of SPC to intentionally pray daily for a specific child or grandchild of the members of St. Paul's.
SPC Day of Prayer
We set aside a specific day each month where we ask our church members to commit to pray at a specific time of their choosing. Each person can pray at home, at the ministry center or any place they choose. They are provided with a prayer guide prepared for this occasion that will outline specific prayer requests. They are also encouraged to add their own prayer petitions for SPC to this prayer time.
